Now it's at: 95 locations, 794677 bytes (8365 per location). Bigger than GOAT now (by nearly 10 percent)! 126 global variables, though on average they are keeping track of much more information than in POAT. Estimated number of bugs fixed so far: 200-250.

Going back and rewriting new stuff into old locations is a bit tedious and bug-prone, but it's really not easy for me to plan out everything location-by-location. I get new ideas much more often when I'm writing something else in the game. While I knew what the *core* puzzles were for this part of the game long ago, I'm making up new characters and situations all the time as I go. Hopefully it should be seamless and transparent to the player -- the whole cat thing in POAT was a really late addition to the game.

Anyway, I'm about 1/3 of the way through part 2 of 5. Each part should be shorter than the last; part 5 is really just the whole ending sequence plus possibly some bonus stuff. I'm aiming to be finished around December, and I might shorten the time it takes to write the later parts of the game by focusing mainly on puzzles rather than further story development (puzzles add much more to game-playing time than reading story text).
