Currently SOAT stands at 10063192 bytes (***), having just passed the 10 million mark two days ago. I've actually made a lot more progress than it would seem, because several hundred kilobytes were reduced from code simplification and things like that. The size of the game's description text (all text that a player can see during the game) is about 60% of the total size -- 6003929 bytes, 1068087 words.

Right now I'm going to put the game's estimated release date at around mid-2007. I've decided not to have beta testers for the game for three reasons: (1) I've done and will continue to do enough testing to be confident that, while it won't be possible to get rid of *all* bugs before a release, there will be few enough that they can be handled as they come up during the first few days after release; (2) No beta testers means that no one will have a big advantage in finishing the game first, beyond the usual considerations; (3) Beta testers' playing experiences would have suffer a bit from changes to the game that would be necessitated by continuing development during the beta testing period, at least how I had planned to do it. Importantly, the cancellation of beta testing will not at all delay the game, as far as I can see.

I might also resume working on my other AGL game in development, Project F, some time in the next few months. It will definitely be completed at some point, and hopefully it will be out some time in the coming year. I don't expect it to take more than two or three months when I do resume working on it. It should be a short game but have many different ways to solve various puzzles, for good replayability.
