I know a native Californian who was visiting another state (I think it was Louisiana, but I'm not sure) and did one of those rolling stops. A police officer pulled her over, approached her window, and told her what she had done wrong. "I'm sorry, officer! I just made a California stop!" And then, I kid you not, he became almost apologetic and gently informed her that those were not allowed in that state. If he ever found out that such stops are not legal in California, I'm sure he felt stupid.
