Hercules In the Valley of Woe (1961)

Reviews and Comments

Very broad and silly comedy about a couple of chatty, bumbling guys travelling back in time to the days of Hercules and Maciste. The humor, such as it is, comes from fast banter and people of ancient times reacting to modern inventions such as matches and fireworks. It doesn't quite suffice as a parody of the sword-and-sandal flicks contemporary with it, because it takes the strong man stuff seriously. Still, despite its shortcomings, it's no worse than those same swords-and-sandal flicks.
