Subject: I am not trying to be funny, I am serious! Date: Sat, 1 May 2010 15:20:46 -0700 (PDT) Greetings, I really enjoyed reading your home page. I have not had the pleasure of exploring your entire website yet. But I immediately found that you have some very interesting insights about humor, and particularly about what is funny. I am a PhD student at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and I will be working on my dissertation of Laughter as Medicine for the next three years. At the beginning phase of my research I need to establish some basic information about what do people find funny. I am just beginning, and I found your website very interested. I do not expect to be publishing any works at this time, but I hope to eventually. I was wondering about your home page, you had humor placed in categories. Was this based on your own observations and experience? Or did you create a survey or interviews? Just curious as I am exploring research methods. Any tips you want to offer will be gratefully appreciated. If you would rather not answer my questions, I understand. I am very busy too. I promise to respect your copyrights --of course. |
