200. Floppies in ZIP drivesTo: ss1@guile.dreamhost.com
Subject: Floppies in ZIP drives Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2002 03:24:02 -0400 One of your stories in Computer Stupidities describes having to disassemble a ZIP drive to get at a floppy disk inserted by mistake. Perhaps it depends on the model of the drive, but I thought you should know that there is another solution. When I myself committed this embarrassing error, my friend managed to extract the floppy by improvising pliers out of paper clips. (This was fortunate, as it was the school's ZIP drive and an important floppy.) Perhaps this is something your submitters would like to know - and if they were prepared beforehand, they could even use real pliers. |
