Is your solo character an assassin? I've noticed that characters hardly ever (possibly never) find the rarer of their own two items.

My six-man all-assassin party each have a robe, but not the other item (which, given that their sole purpose is to trawl level 10 for rarities, seems impossible), whereas my solo wizard found all eleven items other than the buckler with monotonous regularity.
