I can't remember when it rained here last. We had a thunderstorm pass withing two miles a few weeks ago, but all we got was a breeze. The grass is dead. You can raise a cloud of dust just walking across the yard. Leaves are falling, but instead of red and gold, they're brown. The garden is a dust bowl. Three flower beds near the house look ok, but I can reach them with the hose.
Today, I did everything I could to get it to rain.
I washed the car. I washed the truck. I left a 37-year-old motorscooter outside and I'm going to leave it out there all night. My old joints won't put up with a rain dance, but I guess I could pat my foot a little. Yesterday, I went fishing and it didn't rain. The fish were walking. Tomorrow we might have a picnic, or go to Dollywood. We don't even have any clouds to seed. On average, October is our driest month, so it's now or never. We don't have to use paperclips to attach postage stamps. These new-fangled stamps stick on dry. What else can I do?
