I remember reading the news about Eragon when it came out -- how the author was something like 15 years old, making him one of the youngest people ever to get a publishing deal like this, yadda yadda yadda. So I picked it up and skimmed the first few pages at Borders, and thought it seemed like a reasonably well-done fan fic of someone's D&D campaign. Can't say I gave it enough attention to make that a fair judgment, though.
