The Spanish Prisoner (1997)

Reviews and Comments

The Spanish Prisoner is an incarnation of one of writer-director David Mamet's (and my) favorite movie themes, the confidence game. It falls short of his earlier work, House of Games, particularly in the area of the dialogue (which Mamet is famous for), but the con game is even less predictable, and the movie as a whole still maintains Mamet's high standards. Watch for Steve Martin in an atypically serious role.
