The ZAZ team does for Dragnet what Airplane! did for Airport with this film version of their short-lived television series, Police Squad!. Leslie Nielsen, who co-starred in Airplane!, plays Lt. Frank Drebin as straight as Jack Webb played Dragnet's Sgt. Joe Friday. Nielsen started hamming it up as the series went on, diluting much of the humor, but the original is hilarious.
