One of the better live-action Disney family comedies of the 1960s, The Misadventures of Merlin Jones features Disney regulars Tommy Kirk and Annette Funicello as high school students, Kirk playing a kind of science-hungry genius that might have been what The Absent Minded Professor was like as a kid. The film is comprised of two equally amusing vignettes, one involving hypnosis and the other a mind-reading machine. Though not great filmmaking, kids will like it, and adults may even be amused as well.
