Reviews and Comments

In the footsteps of Indiana Jones, director Robert Zemeckis teamed up with stars Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner to create his first bona fide hit, Romancing the Stone. This first rate adventure film takes place in the Colombian jungle. Turner is a romance novelist who finds herself stranded in the jungle when her bus breaks down. Douglas, a cruder, rougher-edged, fortune-seeking version of her romanticized heroic leading man, reluctantly comes to her rescue. The interplay between the stars is enchanting, and action, humor, and romance are present in plentiful proportions. Danny DeVito provides some of the laughs as a nasty minion of the villain.
