543. Missing Quotes on Things People SaidTo: "rinkworks@rinkworks.com" <rinkworks@rinkworks.com>
Subject: Missing quotes. Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2008, at 18:43:33 In your famous people quotations section, you left out all the very stupid things that were said by the likes of: Billary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Jimmy peanut Carter, Al Gore, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and James Carville to mention only the tip of the liberal ice berg. Do I detect a one-sided, biased, partisan, lopsided, political bent here ?? Or maybe just the " I hate George Bush so much . . . . . . . . . that I can't even remember why" personality type. Hmmm. I've been a Republican all my life and voted for George W. Bush in both elections, but I'm not so brainwashed by the party line that I think conservatives are always infallible and liberals are always unmitigated evil. Even if I did think that, *everybody* says stupid things from time to time. It doesn't mean they're stupid. It means they're human. True, there is a greater share of quotations by Republicans on my page (though you apparently missed the quotes by Al Gore and ignored the quotes by Gerald Ford and Marion Barry). But like the true conservative that I am, I oppose affirmative action. You get represented on my page because you said something dumb that I found funny, not because I felt compelled to meet some kind of quota. If you want to make a difference in the direction our government and our society is taking, pick your battles wisely. If the battles you pick are to come down on entertainment web pages that don't make fun of political parties equally, the best you can possibly hope to achieve is to exacerbate the currently very volitile political tensions in the country that keep us from seeing each other with understanding and tolerance and finding a way to work together to make our country a better place and a better people. -- Sam. |
