501. A Drinking TabooTo: <sam@rinkworks.com>
Subject: I Think submission Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2007 15:03:37 Have you ever thought about how much energy we would conserve if drinking from the carton wasn't so taboo in most of the homes in the world? Here's food for thoguht; The carton costs energy just to make it and ship it. Then there is filling the carton with whatever substance someone spent energy to make. Shipped again. Once it reaches the fridge section of the store, it sits there, costing energy to keep cold, waiting for someone to say "I choose YOU Pikachu!" to it and take it home to slowly kill off by draining it of it's fluids. But we don't do this like Dracula, do we? No, we walk to the fridge, take the carton out, set it on the counter, walk to the cabinet, get a drinking vessel of the capacity that pleases us, walk back to the counter, open the carton, pour the fluid out into the vessel and (hopefully) put the carton back in the fridge. Dracula wouldn't be caught DEAD getting a drinking vessel from the cabinet. Nope. Dracula drinks directly from the tap, doesn't he? I mean, how silly would Dracula look if he told his victim "Wait right there, I need to get something to put your blood in."... I think we should all be more like Dracula and drink directly from the carton. That would eliminate ALOT of silly steps we take to avoid being taboo. |
