Sinbad Comic

Join Sinbad and his merry men as they embark on a dubiously-conceived quest to foil a dubiously-conceived but probably evil plot by the evil vizier Jaffar! Sinbad Comic is a screen-cap comic based on the incredible, incomparable, and inexplicable 1989 Lou Ferrigno film, Sinbad of the Seven Seas.

Sinbad Comic is currently on hiatus but will eventually return for the fifth and final season.

Sometimes this movie gives wonderful little gifts.

In the movie, this moment is nothing. Nadir serves a meal. That's it. But I noticed that there are a few frames where Sinbad and Kyra look down at their bowls with skepticism, and I pounced on that as being the key to this comic. So I build the whole comic so that it led up to that image as the silent punchline.

Here's where it gave me that gift: it wasn't until I was pretty much done with the writing that I spotted that for a single frame as he's walking away, there's that wonderful image of his mischievous little smile. It makes the whole strip.

It also unlocked his character for me. As I wrote earlier, I had a lot of trouble deciding what to do with Kyra and Nadir, other than the obvious idea that Nadir should be well-spoken. But he clicked for me in this episode: He plays at being an oblivious intellectual, but he's in on the joke.

Thanks, movie.
