It looks like you still need to talk to some people in town and then in the castle; speak to everyone you can. A lot of actions depend on what your character knows, not what you know, so try as many options in each location as you can.

Don't be afraid to spend money where you can; the game won't let you get to a losing position that way.

As for that woman, just hang around and keep checking; she does leave occasionally.
