I'm just curious as to what reference is used. I've run into (for example):

"dutchess" - a county in New York or a misspelling of "duchess" (although Samuel Johnson used it in his day long, long ago)

"ashmen" - extremely archaic; plural of "ashman", someone who carries ash (huh?)

"hysteron" - no definition, except as part of an old phrase "hysteron proteron"; reversing the order of a common phrase such as "bred and born" for "born and bred"

So, I'm wondering if it uses a Scrabble dictionary (those include many archaic words and spellings) or something more esoteric?
