I was tempted to berate you for getting so far in the game and giving up on something like this, and then I looked at the log I have of your moves. You really *have* worked at this.

Ok, let's spell this out a bit more. Why don't you unsolder all your wires and untwist all your wires, so we're starting fresh?

Ok, now let's remember what we have to do. You have to solder one wire to another, and you have to twist one wire to another. That's it. The question is, which wires?

Let's take each of the two parts separately. Soldering first. Forget about twisting, let's just think about how to get the soldering part right. For the soldering part, we have to solder a red wire to the positive terminal. Now, what's actually under the hood? Hmm. Two red wires. One positive terminal. How many total possibilities is that? Just two, right? We solder the positive terminal to one of the two red wires.

Ok, before we actually do anything, let's now look at the twisting part.

What do we have to do now? Twist one of the "two" battery cables with the "smaller solenoid wire." First, what's the "smaller solenoid wire"? As mandichaos said, the word "solenoid" can be ignored -- the word "smaller" is the one that's important. Only one wire fits that, right?

Which leaves the last question of what to twist this wire *to*. Well, there are only two battery cables, the positive cable and the negative cable. Which one's "thicker"? We don't actually know.

So, out of all the possible combinations of connections we might make, we've narrowed it down to just four:

1. Solder the positive terminal to the first red wire. Twist the "smaller solenoid wire" to the positive terminal.

2. Solder the positive terminal to the first red wire. Twist the "smaller solenoid wire" to the negative terminal.

3. Solder the positive terminal to the second red wire. Twist the "smaller solenoid wire" to the positive terminal.

4. Solder the positive terminal to the second red wire. Twist the "smaller solenoid wire" to the negative terminal.

Doesn't the solution *have* to be one of these four?

So, try each of these configurations in turn. The second one of them works, something will happen.
