ESM: Hunting for Certain Stuff . . .

I need to check and see if I've missed my opportunity to get whatever's needed to enter the secret area. From looking around on the forums, I have a good idea of what item I currently have that must be held onto, and what must be "gotten early". Problem is, I don't know how late is too late for that second item. So, how late is too late to get it?

My inventory is as follows:

Beaker
Blue Paint
Bottle Cap
Chain
Chalk
Demerit
Earthworm Sample
Eraser
Glasses
Glue Stick
Grass
Knock-Out Drops
Lighter
Mirror
Mop-head
Rust Eater
Scalpel (sharpened)
Shoes
Soldering Iron
Wire
Wrench

My current tasks include:

Get my bag
Stop the fight
Get "dead organic matter", NOT leaves
Find artist

I'd appreciate a quick response, and if the answer's too spoilerish, just e-mail me about it (mention the game in the subject line, please). Thanks in advance.
