While I was posting my reply to koalamom in the State of the Forum thread, Leen and I had an exchange that was very short but struck me instantly as something mildly frightening in what it meant about the crazy speed at which culture is changing for some people, like me.

We were each on separate computers, doing our morning routines of checking email, the forum, etc:

Leen: "It must be the first day of spring."
Sam: "Hm, yeah, I guess so. Why, does Google have a new logo?"

Yes, Google has a spring-themed logo today, and yes, that's what prompted Leen's comment.

I'm gonna go outside or something.
