That's weird.
If I recall correctly (and it's been a while) you should be able to sneak back to the Gate and surreptitiously check the rubble. (You can't draw attention to yourself right after destroying it, but you can come back and take a look around.) Your inventory doesn't seem to be lacking for anything else.
Are you in Larosis itself and just trying to get back to the Gate?
