Thanks for the help before, AndyL and silverfox! I have broken the city gate with the boulder, and have bought wire-clippers, but now I need one more coin to get Darius to help me. My stuff:
559 Gold Coins
Life Preserver
Food Rations
Wire Clippers

9 Red Gemstones
Guard's Sword
Bucket
Portrait

3 Black Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Rope
Gray Focus Stone
I tried stealing out of Gestalds bag to no avail. Please help! Thank you.
