This may seem like a big, fat, "duh", but make sure you spend at least a little time with each other every day. My husband and I started out this semester hardly ever seeing each other because of work and school schedules. Within a couple of weeks, it was pretty evident this was damaging our relationship. Now, no matter what, we spend at least half an hour together doing something every day.

One thing that both my husband and I like about each other is that we always make sure to ask how the other's day went. Even if it's likely to be a boring story.

Before we go to sleep at night, I'll read a chapter of a book to him (right now I'm reading "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" to him), and then he'll read whatever chapter of the Bible we're on. We just started doing this a few weeks ago, and believe me, it has made things so much better. We usually only get about 45 minutes of time together, but it's made such a difference.

If things at home are strong, outside temptations are far less of a threat.

I know it seems silly to have to be told to spend time together, but after just a year of marriage, your spouse just doesn't seem as exciting as he/she did when you got married. So you have to make a conscious effort to enjoy each other's company. And it's most certainly worth it.
