Once you're there, you can use a number of things in your inventory to get you across. That opens up a whole new area to explore. The items you get at the farm are useful but you may want to explore a little before using them.

I have already managed to cross the chasm. That's how I got to that magical forest in the first place. But then when I crossed that slope the elf was guarding I got back to the wall place. Was there something in the forest that I missed?
