Seriously, though, this is probably the least intuitive solution in the entire game, but I personally think it's one of the most satisfying.

You've talked to the Sage and figured out the power of belief, right? Get thyself back home and see if you can't pick up something big and heavy in the Forest of Fear.

Now take it back to Larosis and see if you can't use it to get revenge on that blasted Gate of Despair. Once the dust has settled and you've evaded attention, what you need will be found in the rubble.
