The only way to advance to Sunday is to go do Prof. Major's task. Fortunately, it's the only task you can do at this hour of the night.

Once that's done, you will also discover a nice new hiding place for your new friends. Get something from the auditorium to use to smuggle them out of the library, take them there, and Verna will reward you.

Then go make use of the reward Prof. Major gives you... it's going to be an interesting night.
