I can't tell you exactly how to get the rat - I didn't write down the moves - but I can give you a good strategy.

If you sketch yourself a map it'll be a lot easier. Note that the rat will run in different directions depending on which direction you approach it from. As you play, keep track of which way it goes so that if you find yourself going in circles you can try a different option next time the rat ends up at that intersection.

Eventually, you'll herd the rat into a place where you can use the trap on it.

This takes some patience and persistence. You won't solve it in just a few moves. If you keep track of what steps you are taking, though, you'll be able to predict the rat's moves at each intersection. Once you can start doing that, it'll feel more like you are making progress and less like you are just running in circles.
