FQ2 - stuck near the beginning

I thought I was done, but NO! Just when you think you're out, they draaag ya back in. And just when I think I'll try to play this one without any hints...I get stuck. I think I've searched around everywhere but I can't find what to do. My last soothsayer hint was that mythological creatures are vain (and I did fulfill what that hint was telling me to do). I can't open any gates, I can't hitch a unicorn ride, I can't get in the tower, I can't get past the cyclops, I can't help the clown, I don't know what a Roc Feather is, and I can't find anymore gold. Can someone give me a boost in the right direction? Here's my pathetic inventory:
20 Onions
Sack
Silver Key
Iron Support
2 Tree Branches
Small Silver Coin
Huge Ladder
If anyone would help me, I would be immensely grateful.
