Alright, THIS time I've tried many combinations of actions with the blacksmith after getting the ring and trying to gather a crowd. I conked him on the head, and no matter what I do, he either calls me a psycho or pushes me into the furnace. I've even tried leaving the shop after conking him once to see if that changed anything.
