A perfect explanation, except that "thief sneakers" *does* actually count as one of the two extra-special rogue items. That's a fall-out from the original terminal-based version of Murkon's Refuge, when rogues were called thieves. I couldn't bring myself to rename "Thief Sneakers" to "Rogue Sneakers" because "Thief Sneakers" is just too funny.
