Horribly stuck in GOA... I can't get the stupid picture!

I am horribly stuck, as you may have already presumed. I have the rope hanging from the right place, I know about the ring and I have the apples, though I don't know what they're quite for. I also know how to get the magnifying glass but other than that I'm stuck. Would anyone care to point me in the right direction? Advance thanks to anyone who does.
