POA: fight in alley

I'm a bit stuck in the alley with Jean-Claude...I've charted what all the possible moves with the knife and the spray do and how they all loop back, so am I right in thinking that at some crucial point I have to pick an "exit" move, which usually kills me otherwise? I can't think of any other way to break out of the loop...
