Let's see, you can trade the jewel to someone form something you need. Have you found where to use the scroll yet? if not, find someone who needs what the scroll can provide. If so, use what that person has given you to get another item that you need.
That's all I can think of for now. But that's enough. If you accomplish those two things, you'll be set for a bit, Possibly even for the rest of the game.
