GOA - Note?

I feel bad to be asking for help again so soon, but I saw on someone's post that they have a "Note" in their inventory. I am lacking this, and I have no idea where the note came from. I currently have succeeded in getting a copy of the Metamorph Ring, but the blacksmith keeps interfering, and whapping him on the head doesn't help. Is this note necessary?
