TOA - don't know what to do next.....

I have;
map of Elkland, backpack, purse, ID card, hovercar key, quantam calculator, red dress, stylish clothes & shoes, crowbar, note from Chris, picket, enrolment sheet, course textbooks, rusty key, dollar bill, gas canister, ladder, Luna's list & jug of acid.
The nerds are in the sewer, the 2 people are safe in an abandoned building, I've helped out the 4 professors' & got my rewards! as listed above, spoken to my brother, the ladder doesn't fit across the gap and I'm being poisoned in the food hall.
But now, I'm stuck and don't know what to do or where to go or how to get there or how to find some food; seen mention of a bacon sandwich!
please advise, oh wise ones, who've already finished this game!
