Game of Ages, Horsing Around

Okay, here's the deal. I've saved the Guils, and gotten them back to normal. I have 33 bronze coins, and I need one more to be able to buy the horse and go see the Elves (or at least, I assume that's what I'm sposed to do (if not, let me know, por favor)). I've gotten the single coin from the eavesdropping deal, and I've gotten the single coin from the moat, and I've gotten a lot of coins from Blood Drops, and from the bar, and I've wandered all around the land, trying to find more coins, but they are totally and completely gone. I can't find any. Where can I find another coin, first of all, and if it has something to do with that dumb gardener who doesn't do anything, how do I get him to do something? Here's my inventory:

Guard's Sword

6 Red Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
