My mind works pretty logically and structured. I can't understand why someone sometime decided that putting the month first, then the day and the year last, would be a good idea. I mean, the only logical thing is to go either from smallest to largest unit or the other way around.

How do you say dates, by the way? I thought it might have something to do with how it's spoken, but I'm not sure. I don't say dates out loud very often... You *write* October 1 (or 1st?), for example, but don't you *say* "(the) first of October"?
