Three or four time in the last nine years or so. a few were on an added-on drive that ultimatly failed due to hardware problems, one was when a friend loaned another his computer and wanted to make sure she wasn't getting anything confidential, and that's about it... We stopped formatting floppies when PC exchange started being standard, a few year back, and we practically stopped using them earlier this year (Our workhorse comp doesn't have a 3.5 drive)

Wow.... I've never talked to a Mac user who didn't think Wintel was worthless. *shrug* I guess I just don't talk to enough people.

I tried to format a virtual hard drive for my Mac emulator once. I had to go search for a utility that would do it, and then when I found it it told me something equivelent to "You don't have any hard drives connected" which is probably because of an error on my part. I haven't used Macs that much.

I don't format my HD much, which is interesting considering the amount of useless stuff I do with it. Since the last time I formatted it 2 years ago, my 6-gig hard drive has had every version of Windows on it at one time or another. I don't defrag, format, or even run Scandisk except when I'm having problems. I'm amazed that my PC even runs with the amount of fragmentation my C drive has.
