As soon as those who prefer the Metric system start using 10-day weeks and ten-month years.

Basically, I agree your point that "ever yone should use whichever one system they're used to". I take this further, saying that the government really should not tell us which one to use. I disagree, however, with your suggestion of coming up with Imperial prefixes, but that was only a suggestion, so never mind.
