I did find some aspects of that linked post to be interesting. However, I found that the major flaw in it was its use of straw man arguments. I have never heard anyone attack US foreign policy as stupid, and certainly, the US tendency to help others in need is not a bad thing. Instead, the arguments tend to discuss things such as the average US citizen's knowledge of geography. I do not personally believe that this is a good reason to call Americans "stupid", but I don't want to go into depth on that topic right now. I think that in reality, there is a great deal of hypocrisy involved in ANY argument which calls Americans "stupid". I do not think, though, that the linked post deals with the problem in an appropriate fashion (although the post itself seems to be free from error--it just addresses the wrong issues). Perhaps some time when I am feeling a little more sure of my position and a little more comfortable with my time, I will write a post that goes into more detail on the nature of this hypocrisy, as I see it.
