I finished high school over in West Germany, back when there was such a thing as West Germany. I went to the American high school in Heidelberg, but we lived many miles out, in a small town called Reilingen. There was the American ghetto in Reilingen, but we didn't even live there. So I listened to the radio quite often.
If you wanted to hear anything in English on the radio, you had four choices: Radio Moscow (Soviet Propaganda), Armed Forces Network (American Propaganda), the BBC (which came and went with sunspots), and the Canadian Forces Network which is what I settled on. After listening to CFN for a few months and somehow picking up a Canadian accent, my classmates thought I was Canadian.
