You might find the sequel interesting. The writer/director (not the same guy as did the original movie) decided to make "a sequel to the phenomenon, not to the movie." There's lots of playing around with 'what is real' sort of things.
*And* it hasn't got any of the first movie's characters in it. It's about a group of obsessed fans who go on a tour of the forest where BWP was filmed, and have nasty things happen to them.
