The Abominable Dr Phibes. Before I saw this movie I thought that Vincent Price was just a nice old man who liked to do the occasional TV game show. After this movie I could not bear to watch "To Tell the Truth" or "What's My Line" when he was a panelist. The movie wasn't scary so much as disgusting...no, take it back, the scary part is that human beings actually consider it entertaining to see people gruesomely and creatively murdered. The grand finale---do I have to post a "spoiler" notice here?--you really don't want to see this movie anyway--the grand finale where he simultaneously exsanguinates and embalms himself gave me the total creeps for months. (I hate having blood drawn at the doctor's and this put me right over the edge). I have not bothered to see how he reanimates himself in "The Return of the Abominable Dr. Phibes" .

Jaws. Well it wasn't supposed to be a scary scary movie, but I didn't even find it mildly suspenseful.

I think I've posted before that as a small child I remember being genuinely frightened of the "Bogeymen" in Laurel & Hardy's "Babes In Toyland" (!)
