 Yes and no. Being with Edith would make him happy, but believing that being with Edith put the fabric of time and wossname to risk would counteract that to a large extent.

 My brother and sister and I, when we first saw _Generations_, came up with a justification for most of the strange plot thingies, including why they returned to that point in time and not earlier. Can't remember what we decided it was, though.

 The plot wasn't all bad. The thing that really killed V for me was the thoughtful little details like the bored Klingon taking potshots at passing spacejunk destroying the Voyager probe.
