I'm amazed. I saw both of those movies when they first came out. That was only a couple of years after I read "Penrod" and "Penrod and Sam," but I never connected the movies with the books. It's been so long ago, I'm going to have to read them again. The one scene I remember from the movie had Doris Day and Gordon McRae in a canoe. He's telling her what a silly song "Moonlight Bay" is and then he ends up singing it. I don't think that was in the book.
