Sympathetic policemen helps. After all, they have to buy fuel too. It's also entirely peaceful.

You know, there is a refinery just down the road from me, that's being kept at a standstill by one lorry across the entrance and a dozen guys in shifts of four! Solidarity also helps, as the road tanker drivers are mostly refusing to break picket lines. It's not long been reported that that particular refinery has managed to get five tankers out which will probably be emptied within hours if not minutes. The best bit is, although the government is refusing to budge, the vast majority support the underlying protest at fuel prices, if not the disruption the protest is causing. At least the government will have to take notice if they don't want to lose the next election to be held sometime in the next 18 months.
