I flipped through it in the store, but I didn't like the dialogue... it just didn't sound realistic.

Captain Atom changed his uniform? Huh? Wasn't that some sort of laser-dye thing (back in ish #1 of DC's first Captain Atom series, circa mid-80) and he changed it for a pair of shorts? Huh?
