Fantasy Quest Chasm?

I swear I've done everything multiple times, been everywhere I can possibly go, yet I'm stuck. There has to be something, probably obvious in retrospect, that I'm just missing because I can't get past the chasm and I have done everything in the area the hint tells about. Here's my item list- sack, rope, sword, hammer, club, two carrots, branch, diamond, nails, silver key, shovel, bow.
