In today's paranoia-ridden era, Sydney Pollack's 1975 conspiracy thriller Three Days of the Condor has a devoted following. It's not the timeless classic many make it out to be, but it's a competent, exciting, evenly-paced thriller that keeps its audience on edge, at the same time treating its characters like people rather than devices. The story follows the desperate efforts of a researcher (Robert Redford) for the CIA to save himself from death by his faceless enemies. It all starts when he steps out for lunch and returns to find all his co-workers assassinated.
